How to read the MEP without Cable 

First step is to access to the �Help Me� menu, to do so, on the main screen of the phone hold the following keys : ALT CAPS H (at the same time)

Note: For Pearl and other Sure-type phones press and hold the ALT key (Bottom left) and type E A C E, for Storm, hold the BACK arrow, and tap the screen in the following areas:TOP LEFT, TOP RIGHT, TOP LEFT, TOP RIGHT.

You should be presented with a screen like the one shown below:






Type the PIN, App Version and Uptime in the form below:

Now simply type the KEY directly on to that screen. Nothing will appear when typing. For numbers hold the ALT key when typing. Now you should be in the engineers menu - if you are not please try again ensuring the data you entered is EXACTLY as displayed. If you close the screen ensure you change the Uptime on the form. Navigate to �OS Engineering Screens� as shown below:

Now scroll down to �Device Info� and then scroll down until you see MEP-XXXXX-XXX� as shown below:

That�s your MEP! Please send it to us.

Unlocking Huawei E220 USB Modem
Basically, Unlocking the e220 is simple as running the E220 CardLock Unlock tool and entering the unlock code and pressing the "Ok" button. But that's when you "know" the unlock code.

So how do we find the unlock code for our modem? that's where the other tools come in handy.

Plug your modem to the computer and run the E220 Updater. Wait till it detects your modem and then press the "Cancel" button. yes! Cancel it! This is just to make it easier for the "real tool" to identify the modem.


Now open the QC BQS Analyzer and click on Hardware forensics menu, select Use Com/USB Port

Now the "QC Com Diag" window should be open. Most of the time your modem and com port is automatically selected on the Serial Com port drop down list. If not you'll have to select it manually. And then click on the "Send Cmd" button and wait till the message "Successfully sent command" appears on the bottom right.


Now Select " Read EFS" from the Diag Functions drop down menu and Click the "Lets go" button. When it asks, enter the file name e220.bin and save it. A message saying "Successfully read EFS" should appear.


Now its time to do some hex reading :) Open the e220.bin file from your Hex Editor. And search for the ASCII string Sd, (including the comma) or Search for the for the Hex string 53 64 2c
After few random characters you'll see a clean 8 digit code. Believe me, it's easily recognizable and guess what! thats our Unlock code :D


Once you've found the unlock key all you have to do is enter it on the CardLock Unlock utility and click "OK" And your modem is... Unlocked!!! :D

UFS ERROR SOLVED AFTER INTALL MXKEY 3.5 SETUP

I've read in this forum so many people complain about their UFS not detected after installing new MXKey soft v3.5 rev1.1, strange error message appear when opening MXKey soft, and soon.
So here i try to share my experience installing MXBox, UFS, and MXKey without problem.


I installed MXKey v3.5 rev1.1 on 2 PC. On 1st PC i use HTIBox and HWKBox, and in the other PC i use UFS Tornado and MXKey dongle.

Here is the step installing.
1. If you haven't, install HWK Suite latest version (2.2.0.0) and update UFS Driver.


2. Uninstall previous installed MXKey software.

3. Go to c:\MobileEx and delete folder. (Make backup for RPL and PM file located in c:\MobileEx\3.5\data\backup)


4. Open Regedit, go to HKLM\software\MobileEx, and delete the registry key


5. Go to HKCU\software\MobileEx, and delete the registry key


6. Restart the PC

7. Install MXKey v3.5 rev.1.1

8. (For HTI User) When Ask for driver, point it to c:\MobileEx\3.5\Data\Drivers\HTI

9. Update HTI Firmware to version 00.17

10. When Firmware update complete HTI will ask for new driver, point it toc:\MobileEx\3.5\Data\Drivers\HTI

11. Run Partial Update for Nokia Service Tool and Blackberry Tool

12. Done, Now MXKey ready to use.
